Question:

We are considering replacing our 20 year old Vermont Castings Vigilant- damper handle pops up whenever- wood stove with a Much Wenlock 7 year old coal/wood stove made by the Coalbrookdale Company of England. Is this a good brand? What should one pay for a used stove in very good condition? Any other info or insight you might have are this topic. Your web site is awesome. Got some very valuable info.

Answer:

The Much is a good stove for coal, but you may not be happy if you burn wood in it...very small firebox and no special baffles, etc. It's worth about $300.00 in good condition.
