Here's my new 550 Rockland that was installed today. Did the first break in fire tonight. Where do you Rockland owners put the magnetic thermometer? I was using my IR gun but found no where to get an accurate temp reading.

Deja Vu, I put my stove top thermo in the vent, centered about 3" back. Have a flash light for when I need it. I can get a decent reading shooting the IR right at the base of the stack maybe 1/8-1/4" up but mostly use the stove top thermo as my guide.
