When i purchased my dutchwest, i didn't buy the optional blower. I was told by a few to test it out first. To help with the natural convection of air in my house... i've turned the upstairs ceiling fans on the PROPER way. Spinning clockwise. I've positioned a oscillating fan in the room adjacent to the stove room blowing into the dining room/ kitchen area and towards the stairs going up. There isn't much of a chance for me to get air downstairs... not really worried about it just yet.

Any way, as i read in another thread, opening windows can help in this process. Would opening the upstairs windows be key to give it little extra draw?

Right now the fans are working great, but later this winter i might want to keep warmer.

I want to open the window in the room the stove is in... not sure how this will affect it but it's just too damn hot in here!

Maybe it's still a bit too warm in your area to be burning? Opening the window today will cool things down a bit. I usually don't light up until it gets in the lower 40s. Warmer than that and it's just for short, hot fires.

it's dropping to upper 30's tonight...

i wanted to test out my laser thermometer tonight too!

but once i figure out if i need wall protection i probably wouldn't burn at this temp... an extra blanket at night is all needed... during the day the house warms to 66-69

Try turning off the oscillation on the fan, put it on the floor and blow cool air into the room from the area you are trying to heat. Maybe near the staircase, blowing towards the stove room?
