Wouldn't coals after 2.5 hrs indicate too much draft or very dry wood?
 
I have been using the 30 for 2 years now. I have 12' Dwall and then 14' SS, no probs. The 30 does a fantastic job and I think that the draft thing will sort things out. Good luck!
