I finished the wall part of my tile hearth this year. While I was at it ,I moved the intake air tube down and straight in to the stove ,about 1-2 ft max. Before it snaked down from several ft above and sucked air from just below the pipe tee outside.. Now it draws from under the carport roof and is very sheltered and invisible. The stove now starts up like its a different model. It immediately fires up and is more robust.
A BIG difference from before. If your stove starts hum drum... you might try a retrofit like I did.
