Hello Fellow Burners,

This is my first post on this forum but I've been around a while over at IBC. Great to be a part of another super hearth forum. I've got a quick question for you guys. Has anyone seen the new Enviro M55 cast insert? If so, how does it compare to the M55 free-standing stove?

From what I've read the Enviro M55 FS is a very solid unit with a good reputation so far. I'm hoping the new insert will be too.

Thanks,
AR

Welcome to the forum, ARGlock!

One of the resident Enviro "experts", J-Takeman should be along shortly to comment on your post. I believe he has seen the original M55 unit, but not sure if he's seen the cast insert version. While you're waiting for him to chime-in, try doing a search of M55....I imagine his previous posts will show up.

Welcome to the forums, ARGlock!

I am no expert but I do like the Enviro's and there cousins! The M55 Cast is new and I have yet so see one in my area. I am kinda in the woods and the new stuff takes a bit to get to me. I finally got to see my first M55 a week or so ago. Anyway, We have a few dealers that are members. pelletdude sells the Enviro's. Maybe he has some info??

From my reading the guts are the exact same as my Omega. Little different skin and a better control with more feature than the Omega. I sure do like the looks of them! They finally released the info on the web site. At least for the insert. Both the service manual and owners manual are there. Wish I had more to offer for you.

Thanks folks for the quick response!!! I've gotten very interested in the Enviro line recently and especially the new M55 Cast insert. I sure hope we can hear some field reports soon on these units. If anyone gets any first hand info, please post. I would imagine the insert would work practically the same as the free standing. I do like the multi-fuel ability. We have a lot of corn and wheat in our area.

Stay Cool Amigos!!!

You may get some info on the freestanding units, and maybe even the FS cast one, but from what I read, the cast insert won't be available until Sept or maybe the beginning of Oct.

Maybe one of the dealers (pelletdude?) can give a little more insight into that.

Hey Guys,

The M55 Cast is in Stock. I have to say it is a beautiful stove. The cast is made by Vermont Casting and the engine is the same as the M55 FS. I have seen the insert, fits on a slide rail system for complete cleaning. The cast series is going to put Enviro at the top of the heap. The Cast insert is in shipment now from BC. In the distributors hands the week of September 8th.

I burned the 55 FS at the shop and at home, no complaints - very quiet and only had to clean it every two to three weeks. Huge ash pan and the agitator system work flawlessly.

Hey pelletdude,

Thanks for the info, Do you have the cast fs hooked up and burning yet? Any word on the Maxx M and do you plan on setting one up in the shop?

Take care,
jay

Jay,

The 55 Cast will be at the Woodstock Fair for Labor Day Weekend - I will have it hooked up the following week. The Maxx M is going to a fall delivery.

Pelletdude,
Are you the same person I dealt with @ LPSS when I picked up my (and my neighbors) Somersets?

Yep, thats me. Thanks for your purchase - good luck with the Somersets this winter. They will defiantly keep you toasty warm.

You guys ROCK! I've suggested your shop to all that will listen (and some who won't). Keep up the good work.

If anyone gets an opportunity to see the M55 Cast Insert, please post your opinions. I really want to hear from someone that has purchased, installed and run one of these inserts. There shouldn't be a lot of difference in the FS and insert but one doesn't know until someone actually gets one.

Thanks,
AR

Just bringing this thread back up to see if anyone has seen this insert in person. This is the unit I'm thinking of replacing my CB1200 with. I really like the higher BTU output and multifuel features.

My Bestest Friend is having some issues with her new M55 FS Unit. All last winter and same starting this Fall. Her window is filthy in a matter of Max 20 mins, only on the hinge side of the door glass though. The dealer has been back just yesterday and checked for drafts with the Paper test ,and check all other adjustments and told her, thats the way they all work.Hmm,i'm gonna have to dissagree with him on that.My 10 year old EF3 only needs cleaned once a week or more if you want to enjoy watching the flame. We are both burning the exact same softwood pellets,so its gotta be settings or design flaw in the M55.Whatcha thinkin.
