Just found information that the Heartland Pellet plant is no longer Heartland... It appears it may have been purchased by Viridis Energy who also owns Okanagan pellet. The "new" label is Black Hills Heat and produced in their South Dakota plant. Contact is the same as Okanagan pellets ... Doug Middleton.

Black hills is going to be phased out. They are going to Okies gold. which are probably the Heartlands? I will ask to be sure.

My guess for the black hills was

Or another mill that I can't recall the name of since I have CRS!

Thanks Jay - now I'm confused. Came across business listing for Heartlands that stated closed. Earth Sense Energy has their rebagged pellets that used to be Heartland as Spearfish Pellet/Black Hills Ponderosa Pine ... listed as Red Western Elite on this page http://pellethead.com/pages/Wood-Pellet-Selection-and-Pricing.html

    Digging deeper...

I getting dead ends here. I did here several mills were contracted to produce pellets for the oil fields.Guess they use them as speedy dry. Could be why Okies can't get BHH and its possible that Heartland is also in the mix?

    Just rumors nothing positive!

I just got off the phone with Spearfish Pellets ... turns out they started to sell to oilfields but ceased once they realized that they would not be able to keep up. Supply seems to be back up in areas of Minnesota.

That's good to hear. IMHO Heartlands are too good a pellet to be dumped on the ground to suck up oil sludge! ;)

I had heard that spruce pointes were selling to oil companies as their bagging plant broke.
