We have about 8 thirty gallon garbage can bags filled with noodles from some overly large soft maple we had 'noodled up' this past summer. The noodles do make wonderful firestarters!

Them noodles oughta make a good substitute for packing peanuts. Better than those jet-puffed start-based things. At least the wood noodles won't turn to mush it they get a soaking and rats/mice won't consider 'em a food source. Good nest material maybe, but not food.
