We are also burning Okies for the first time this year and they burn the hottest by far of anything we've ever tried. But when I hear everyone describe their appearance, I'm puzzled. The okies I got from BJ's were mostly smaller pellets, crumbly and LOTS of fines. I'm wondering if maybe we got a bad batch or something.

Frequently the big box folks don't treat their pellets with care, that leads to crushed, broken, and a lot of fines etc ... .

Yeah, from the description of the bags, BTU tells me they may be from a bad batch made early in '09. Needless to say, I won't be buying my pellets @big box stores again
