I have an older Comforter stove, side loader & I was going to put a gasket on it. Not on the door. There's a 1/2 inch groove on the stove itself. So I bought some 1/2 inch gasket, cleaned grove out & did a dry fit & I can barely shut the door. Wife probably can't. So then I started to wonder if this thing has never had a gasket. I mean I don't feel like my wood burns excessively. There's never been anything in the grove since I've been around the stove. Moved into house & stove there. Here's a couple of pics if anyone can help. Thank you.

Not sure but I am wondering if the gasket channel is on the door and not the stove body.

Well there was some cement looking stuff that I cleaned out of the grove. I'll go take closer pics & post here again. Thanks for reply....

So here's some more pics, the bottom of the door, where it looks like the lip tapers away is what got me thinking maybe there is no gasket here. The cement looking stuff could have been just some rust with ash on it. I don't know.

Yes, I see what you mean. That is unusual. It may be that the stove takes the next size down gasket 7/16"? Is there a gasket channel on the front door too?

Good call. Sorry took so long to reply, got cold & lit a fire, able to get pics this morning. But yes there is a gasket in the front.

So maybe you're right & I just have to get 7/16, I mean like I said, I can close it but my wife would hate it. And really, a 10 year old should be able to close no problem. Here's some pics of front door, that handle hasn't been moved in years lol....

Ok, I'm gonna go with it. Going to install in about an hour. Doesn't say on package how long to cure/set up but watched a few videos on YouTube & they were pretty much saying a couple hours. I'll let mine set up for several hours before I light a fire, just because nobody will be in the house. Garage day, getting ready to pull a 4.7 out of a Dodge ram. Anyways, thank you for you're input guys, mucho helpful
