Question:

Re: one chimney 2 stoves can I install 2 wood stoves on different floor levels and use only one chimney?

Answer:

It depends....

If the chimney is the correct size and has adequate capacity for both appliances - and if both are controlled combustion units, then it would be possible.

For instance, a 25 foot tall 8" chimney would easily handle two smaller sized stoves with 6" flues.

The insulated chimney makers have charts that detail the capacity of their chimneys. USe the combined maximum ratings on your stoves to calculate this.

There are also charts available for masonry chimneys.
