Today I spilt the tree I cut from the yard last week.
One tough tree, twisted & stringy. Growing on the edge of the yard, getting hammered by the wind made it tough.
Top started to die so I knew it was starting to rot in the center.
Several rounds, the splitter "down shifted into 1st gear" to get thru the gnarly grain.

Makes our silver birch here look easy to split.

Presumably that will start seasoning now, and be ready to burn next winter.

    Nice mountain view too..... :)
