The stove shot up to just over 600 the other day from a cold start. It's the hottest I've had it and it was a little neat to get that new stove smell from it again (although we've been using it since late last spring). It got me thinking about overfiring the stove. I can't imagine that 600 in the rear corner is overfire, but the manual says nothing about it. Only to burn between 400 and 600. Any ideas?

I've been told any internal temps over 1400 can cause damage to cast iron and internal temps are roughly double the external so I'd keep her under 700 stove top.
