hi there
not familiar with new stoves and the technology around them....we have an old firebox that burns wood but not new epa stove. In the local paper today is a pacific energy spectrum for sale. approx 5 years old. from what i have read here on the forum they burn longer and less wood. would a newer stove be worth the investment to save wood?
thanks

Depends on the condition of the stove, the size of the stove, and how much they are asking for it.
You also have to take into account if the stove will require a new piping system, or if you can connect to what is already there.
There are alot of variances from home to home.
What is the layout of your home & the expectations of the "new" stove. What are the expectations & performance of the stove you have now?
Newer stoves have been confirmed to burn less, but also take some relearning, as much you learned with a non EPA has to be rethought and there will be a new learning curve with the new stove.
Most feel it is well worth the time, expense & effort. And like the wood savings.

Hard to tell without knowing more about your current needs. Can you describe the current setup in detail? How large an area is being heated? What is the current stove? What is the flue setup?
