Question:

I bought a Clayton Tristar dual fuel furnace in 1994. The unit has an Erie Controls damper, part # 4517m. The brass gear keeps getting chewed up by the steel spring gear. Do you have either a solution or contact information for clayton or Erie?

Answer:

Clayton was purchased by US Stove, from TN (http://www.usstove.com)I'm not sure if they produce the Multi-Fuel any longer, but the part should be similar to the one on their regular clayton furnaces. Erie controls and similar replacement items can be found through many outlets, including plumbing and heating supply stores, grainers, etc.
