Hey guys recently purchase a Harman pc45 for 400.00 dollars, its a 2012 model and I have spent the last week after work sanding it and bringing it back to its prime as it was neglected for two years sitting in a barn, used stove bright satin black on the outside and vht flameproof paint inside the fire box and its a real beauty anyways they had 3 inch duravent multi fuel vent on sale as I am going up and out (which is how I vented my last pellet stove)I put the appliance adapter on the Harman and then wanted to connect the T clean out and then 3 foot of pipe up then out the wall, problem is the appliance adapter doesnt stick out far enough and the pipe hits the back of the stove,I wonder if they make different lengths of appliance adapters, don't think they do but need some ideas

I had a local shop that does muffler pipes with a pipe expander make what I wanted.
Great find on a true multi fuel stove. Did you get both types of burn trays and exhuast fan plates?
Before taking into house I would do a few burns to cook off the stink

There is a different appliance adapter for Harman's versus the standard adapter. I had to get a new one when I swapped out from the former Hastings for the P43. Take a look on Amazon - the adapter is an inch or more longer than the generic one - just look at the one that shows up as an option at the top of the page versus the Pellet Pro Harman specific vent.

By the way - that was a great price for such a new stove. Too bad it was neglected that way but good for you that you could rehab it.

Thanks guys I will take a look for a longer tail pipe for it,yes Bioburner I have both pots and both exhaust fan plates,I ordered the big hole burn pot and also a new esp probe and also a new exhaust blower motor,I figured It isn't gonna hurt to have a few extra parts.Right now I have the ash bucket sitting in a tote full of vinegar eating away the rust so it can get a new coat of paint then it will be done.Last year in my area a guy had a pc45 for sale too and he wanted 150.00 dollars it,I offered him 100.00 and he said no.If I would have known than what I know now I would of bought, but his had definitely been outside for a few years,by the way I use the big hole burn pot and big hole exhaust cover to burn only pellets correct? The stove came with the small hole burn pot and they have a memo sheet from Harman stating to move dip switches up or down depending on what you're burning.

I think I saw that poor stove. I thought about it as all the major components could have been replaced for around $500. But with it being a bit of a drive too and have a project that I need to get done before venturing into another pellet stove that with cheap oil has beat the pellet stove market to only those who have one and want to upgrade or need to replace a poorly working unit. That's where my last PC45 went. A owner of a Northern tool corn stove that he was having issues getting parts. Have gotten messages back from him and the stove working well this week.
Yes to using the big hole burn tray with the big hole exhaust fan with burning pellets. Pellets have a lower ignition temp so if one try uses the big hole tray-fan set the fire will go out on straight corn.
I burn a blend strong on pellets with the large hole tray with small hole fan plate and that allows to burn without the stirrer. Don't need the extra btus.

So bogieb that adapter is longer than an original adapter or is it just so the stainless liner fits on the outside of the tailpipe of the stove, the way it is now I need to come out about an inch and a half so my pipe isn't touching the back of my hopper, just want to make sure before I order it.

I can't for certain say that it will work for you - the Harman adapter along with the 90* clean out gives enough clearance for the back of my P43, but I don't know about your PC45.

Just an update,I did order that adapter that bogieb stated she used and it did give me another inch of clearance.now can't wait to get this stove fired up and burnt off thanks.

Glad I was of some help, and that you are raring to go with it.

Thanks for changing the wording ;). Doesn't really bother me but if someone else reads this thread, it gives them a head's up.

Hey Gavin get some pics posted up. These freaks love pellet porn.

You will like that PC45. I dig mine and Bioburner is the guru around here on them. There are others with good knowledge also so you will not have issues "if" you happen to have an issue. Many here to get you hooked up and running.

Have a nice warm winter and welcome.

With all the corn in Iowa having a pile of pellets is almost sacrilege:) But with the lower heat needs pellets are a good choice and lots less ash. Needs something for the ash bin door.
Looks good and should serve well

I know it needs a little bling might work on that,I bought Somerset's for $189.50 a ton which is really good also have a lot of friends that are farmers.

Think they are made in Kentucky ... hardwood pellets. Bob, you probably see more softwoods where you are...

If you are looking for an inset on the ash pan, there was a place in Utah that would customize a slate to fit there. If you have a special photo you want done they can do that too. One member got one of his dog that turned out really well; one did his favourite football team. Think you can find photos of them on the forum.

Somersets are great hardwood pellets and yes, they are made right here in KY. I have some burning in my P68 right now. They come from a hardwood flooring company down by Lake Cumberland.

You did a nice job on restoring the stove. Looks new. The $189 per ton price is excellent also. Looks like you scored all the way around. That stove has the capability to turn your man cave into a sauna. ;) It will heat it well.

That looks really good - and dang that was a great price on those 'sets!

You will likely still get a slight smell of burn off still on another fire. The initial is the worst but when you really crank it up in the cold that heat range will get the remaining paint burnt off. You did a nice job with restoring the stove. In the pics it looks practically new. I'm sure you have plenty of sweat equity into it but that buy in price was quite a score.

Good Luck with it and enjoy it. These old 45's are tanks with plenty of fire power.

When I brought mine home and went thru it tip to toe with some excellent guidance from Bioburner I had it on a temporary hookup out in an oversized two car unfinished garage with zero insulation and crappy garage doors which I put in two new ones since. It heated that entire space very well in some bitter cold. So your set up in a finished two car will do wonders. As I mentioned before you will not have any issue making your man cave as warm as you wish.

That said, beware because the sweet warmth will draw the other side into man caves. Ladies like it warm. LOL! My wife came out wondering how I was hanging "outside" in the cold so long and then figured it out. I had it warmer in there than the house running the stove thru its paces. I kept it running out there for about a month or so just because........
