No, they aren't. Pellets won't gasify properly due to the extremely low moisture content. Water in a gasifier serves a similar purpose to octane in gasoline - too much or too little, and performance suffers.

Measured performance on the Traeger is 80% efficiency with no visible smoke. Even with a gasification chamber, the best you could hope for would be 85-87%, so the savings would be small, and the initial cost would increase dramatically.

Thanks Joe, I am considering a pellet boiler due to wood drying times as well as the convenience factor.
