empty your bag and notice the coating of dust on the inside...special stactic bags! also if you go through your old bags you will notice pellets trapped by that same stactic. I now turn my bags inside out...its tough being "tighter then bark on the tree" lol

I know it is...learned it on the tour...

they pay extra for the bags...

Idk if it's intentional or not but not likely. I do like it though. Never had any probs with pellets sticking in there. Just some fines.

less fines in the hopper = less problems with fussy stoves...besides fines are an issue so if you can hide some in the bag.... I'm saying I just checked my empty bags and discovered pellets too. I'm sure this is a side effect but an effect just the same.. just telling what I was told. take it for what its worth

Just thinking out loud... I wonder if they have to keep the pellet dust down in the bagging area due to some safety standard? I smell OSHA here.

NO...its to hide the fines. I stood 10 feet from the owner of a pellet plant and he told me so. All you conspiracy theorists can deduce anything you want. I'm telling you what I was told...

Actually, you do need to keep dust down, there are dust explosion. Think grain elevators, etc. But no relation to this bag.

Just loaded a bag into the Harman, and while i didnt see any pellets left in bag, The smallest fines are stuck inside !. Sort of like the kids game with iron filinggs and a magnet where you draw a picture with them.

BB you are absolutely wrong about this guy. Just to inform you pellets have no charge to them(except what you pay)...its the movement of the pellets that causes the charge. excuse me while I pick up my "feft handed pellet scoops" fell off the shelf because the "shelf strecher" is on the fritz...

Toured the Vermont Wood Pellet refinery yesterday. According to them, they don't mill pellets they refine wood into pellets.
And yes, they are VERY careful about dust to the point of shutting down the whole operation once a week for a thorough cleaning (just like a stove).

Static would most likely be the by-product of different humidity levels in the plant, as well as in the bagging area. I know when it's really could outside and the inside humidity is hard to keep in the mid to upper 20's, there's lots of static in our house.....

That said, wood dust would be VERY volatile when very fine and very dry. And I can see why they would shut down the process to clean that out once in a while. Like others have mentioned, grain processing plants are proof of this. Seems the past several years you hear alot more of these grainery explosions....

Never heard of an "intentionally static charged bag' before.......BUT, I wouldn't put it past a company to try a gimmic like that...
