So the wife is getting sick of the mess associated with burning wood in the insert downstairs, and we are looking at replacing the Lopi Freedom with a pellet insert. Currently the 2-story masonry fireplace is lined with a heavy wall smooth stainless liner.

Can that be used to vent a pellet insert, or does it have to be replaced?

Thanks,

Mike

What you have in there is probably a 6" liner & that is too big for a pellet insert. You don't have to remove it if it's not in your way, but you should run a 4" liner down inside it for your pellet insert...

It is a 6" liner. Will just remove it when the time comes and include with the insert when selling.

Thanks for the input.
