Hi, I just purchased a quad cb 1200i. I have a question regarding clearances, specifically with the mantel. My mantel shelf is probably 5 feet high, posing no clearance problem. However, the surround goes down from the shelf quite a bit. The user manual states that the mantel should be 12 inches from the top of the stove. The beginning of the wood surround, however, would only be 10 - 11 inches above the stove. Is this an issue? What would you recommend I do if this is an issue. I've attached both the owner's manual and a pic of the fireplace to illustrate.

This is my first post. I've been reading for a few days. Great site.

    Thanks.

Yes, if this was a wood stove it would be a different situation, but with a pellet stove the heat is blown out convectively. There is little heat radiated upward. This is the stove I had and loved it. Hope you have many years of good warmth from it.
