I bought a much cheaper unit on eBay - just two pieces that you squeeze with Vise Grips. Small enough to get in tight places, does three sizes. It takes longer per crimp that a regular tool, but the cost and tight quarters abilities sold me. I'm not doing hundreds of crimps. Works with standard rings.
 
That might be an option for the tight spots but I would really like the regular tool , it would be alot faster !!
