pizza oven weekly update

I installed the cedar siding and stained it this week. when finished it did not match the terra cotta stucco so we changed the stucco to a buff color. then we formed up the floating shelf and poured that, pulled the forms and started polishing it. I used the egg shell for the inside form, I wrapped it in plastic and poured around it. when it dried I popped the egg out. A little more polishing and I can start on the oven.

Ironpony, looking very nice! That will be one of the heaviest-used rooms on your property. Imagine, come Superbowl Sunday, the snows falling, cold and windy, and your out there making delicious pizzas for your family and guests.......I cannot wait to build one of those for that reason ALONE. Now if I could just get this dammed fireplace/living room project finished, I could build MY pizza oven....I really like the way yours is turning out!

scotty, I am going to build a mold to use castable refractory, if it all works out maybe we can cast one for you. we are not that far apart. I am figuring on a 40--42 inch diameter.

WOW. That'd be awesome. Let me know how your's turns out. I may do mine the traditional method, all natural stone with a refractory dome made out of firebrick. I wanna see how your's turns out. I am impressed. I really like the pergola and the cedar/stone contrast. Are you going to do a patio?

patio will be flag stone, probably next spring. I want to prep it this year and let it sit all winter then lay stone in the spring.
the cast dome is only the inside, saving all the brick work, then you insulate it and finish however you like.

If that cast dome works out, I'd definitely be interested in one. I'll even come out with my chainsaw when you get it done and I'll help ya do some cutting. I'm in no hurry as it will be a while til I get a chance to build my oven. Anxious to see yours done, though!
