I have a quad 3100 act and a quad 3100, Both work about the same but what is different that make one an act.

Sorry I am not familiar with the old 3100, but I imagine they made some improvements to the secondary air system or air inlets and then came up with the "ACT" name. The ACT is not in production anymore, now they have the ACC (Automatic Combustion Control).
