I do not believe you can.

Isn't the primary air intake on the rear of that stove?

Yes it is. It's also a top-loader.

jackatc, do you just want to set it on the hearth somewhat inside the fireplace, but not enough to block the top load? If the fireplace is large enough that could be ok. The thermostatic air control may not work well if too much heat accumulates in the fireplace.

Just got back from moving wood from stacks to the barn.
HI Begreen, Iwould like to place the stove in to line up
chimney and stovepipe.
Looks like it can be loaded from the front.
I have a raised hearth fire place in my family room.
Only used in warmer months.
I have a Summit insert in my liveing room.
It keeps the rest of the 1840 greek revival quite cozy.

Pictures and dimensions would help, but it might work out ok if there are no clearance issues. I would definitely add a liner and a block-off plate and consider a small fan to get the heat out of the fireplace cavity.

Sorry not up to speed on pictures.
Liner and block off for sure.
Dimensions are, 33" wide, 29" high 20" deep.
Laid up brick on cement blocks, 8' wide floor to ceiling.
12" x 3" bluestone hearth, 9" from the floor.
