Back home from the holiday travels. Lit the Greenwood last night about 7 pm. Dripped condensation from the refractory, insulation, and skins until about 11:30 when I went to bed. Good argument again for building one fire. This morning all was well, refractory was bright white, no dripping, and the whole house and system were up to temp. I light it the first time late October early Nov. and keep it going non stop until Xmas. Now that it is re lit I will burn non stop until mid April. No Storage, heating the house plus all domestic water. Average about 8 cords per year (mostly un split rounds) Not hearing the Oil burner fire in the basement, "Priceless".

Not hearing the oil burner is indeed priceless!! My wife now hates hearing the oil furnace run, period. I went away snowmobiling for a week last winter, told the wife to let the wood boiler go out and heat with the oil furnace, as she is sensitive to wood smoke and the boiler room is 200 feet from the house. I called home on day two and she had re-lit the wood boiler and ran it the rest of the week.... good girl
