OK........ guys and gals, I am about to pull the trigger on a Swisher 28 ton splitter with a 10 1/2 HP B&S;engine for $1500. Anyone know anything I should know before I spend the money?

I need to split tough( lots of crotch pieces), large, elm and I like the fact that this unit used quality parts,(Parker hoses etc...) and I can get the engine worked on locally if needed. I need this to last a long time, and I like the fact that it is made in the USA, with USA parts. Good call or wasted money?

I have a swisher ATV trailer and the quality is excellent. I've never seen their splitters but if same quality as trailers you'll be golden.

My grandpa has a swisher splitter, he loves it! He did a lot of research before buying it, he found it be a good value. He uses it to split for his outdoor boiler and when he is finally done slitting his 15 ricks I split my 6 ricks for the season.

have a few swisher ATV attachments and they all seam to be quality, so I would not be concerned about the brand.
28 ton is big enough to get the job done with some to spare in most cases.
