Hello Everyone! New Member Here.

I read the following thread: https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewannounce/13750_2/ titled "Please read and understand before posting "Which stove should I buy" questions!"

Been reading a lot, everywhere I can find information. Looked at just about every manufacturer I could find (although I am sure I missed a few).

Seen many complaints, mostly dealing with seals breaking very quickly, and on almost newer units.

Which wood stove (for heat and cooking) would you guys recommend? Which is built like a tank, literally. That will last, a long long time. I am not overly concerned about a price at the moment (meaning that if it makes sense, spend it). This is for preparation, and I simply would not want one to wear out literally in a year from every day use. Now if people were to ask where I live, or how often I would be burning wood, assume it would be daily, this would essentially be the stove.

Truly open to your recommendations, as I am completely ignorant on which are "hype" and which are true quality I can depend on. I know that you get what you pay for.

Feel free to direct me. But yes, I do want to spend whats needed, not over, and not under. Essentially, we just want a wood stove that we can cook on daily, and heat the house a few months of the year.

Recommendations?

I don't have personal experience with these stoves, but several on here do, (including moderator BeGreen) when you said cooking this is what came to mind for me, these are such cool stoves,

Also, the Lopi stoves are very well made too. They have a page about cooking on your stove! http://www.lopistoves.com/stovecooking/

You are missing a lot of information.

Where are you located?
How big is the house?
Is it an open floor plan?
Is the house drafty?
By "daily" do you mean 27/7?
What type of cooking?
How often will it be used for cooking?

Yes, are you looking for an actual COOKSTOVE, like an old fashioned wood range with an oven? Or just cooktop?

My apology, a bit more information (and many thanks to you all for your guidance).

I live in North Florida, and have all the woods I can handle behind my house (literally). I certainly want something that can heat the house for a few months of the year, but also something that I can cook on 24/7 if needed.

This will not be installed in the kitchen, but in the main room.

House is 3200sf, 2 stories, but I am not interested in piping out the top, but instead out the side. Cooking wise, anything I could: soups, chili, breads (if I found something that had a baking style compartment), meat etc. Although I can skip some of those things, and assume it would strictly be a regular top only, and not a baking style compartment (which would eliminate some items).

So I am open for whatever is out there, as long as it will last.

That pacific energy is gorgeous by the way.

Good suggestions for stoves. In order to determine the size for your climate a little more info would help.

Will the stove be somewhat centrally located in the house and is the floorplan very open to the area where the stove is located?

What stoves have you looked at? What dealers are in your area?

In the meantime, here is some more reading material to help with the stove choice.
