I was given a baby bear for a sauna. Looking for clearance for combustible material. Non permitted and in a separate out building. Was going to use aluminum checker plate for shields on and wood surface or just use river rock. Great information on this thread
 
Canada; 48 inches is their code, not sure of reduction. Check with their laws or others will post more info for your Territory.
US is 36 inches reduced to 12 when shield is fabricated to NFPA 211 Standard.
