Spring time is coming and I am getting ready to make the mother of all barbecue/outdoor hearth/wood fired ovens. I need refractory cement. Where do I find it in a large enough amount? I have found a source of firebrick and probly should have asked them about the refractory cement. Any ideas?

The block company will have it. Also ask Elkimmeg, or search his posts, I remember him posting something on how to mix refractory cement.

I would be amazed if the place that is sourcing your blocks can't get you the cement as well. (They are probably wondering why you didn't ask them for the cement  ) At any rate, if they don't have the cement I'd just grab the Yellow pages and put some hiking shoes on your finger tips... Any place that sells firebricks should sell the refractory cement as well, probably at a fairly competetive price.

Note though, I was surprised to find that the Home Despots near me did NOT carry refractory bricks or cement.... (I was checking them since they are open on weekends, lots of the other places aren't)
