Question:

I've got a masonry chimney with no liner. I'd like to install a Hearthstone wood stove. What is the most practical approach to reline the chimney in terms of both efficiency and expense?

Answer:

Stainless steel single wall liner. There are many manufacturers of this products, including Protech at http://www.protechinfo.com

Use rigid if the chimney is straight, flex if you need to curve. Some companies sell an insulation blanket to wrap around the stainless pipe to help it stay warmer (draft better and less creosote).

This can make the job more difficult and add expense.
