Id like to pull the stove pipe apart where it meets the chimney and clean it out, the stove was run two months last year and about two months this year so far but the connection appears to be have silicone sealant and wont come apart very easily. Any advice on how to get it apart without damage to pipe or thimble?

what pipe brand is it? Can you post a pic? If when installed a lot of silicone was used, it may never come apart, FYI. Typically you are going to want to twist and pull to get it apart, but might be different if its an odd brand of pipe.
