Replacement of refractory chamber in a Intrepid II 1990 Stove

Sirs:

I have a ten year old Vermont casting's Intrepid ll model 1990 wood stove that I believe needs a new refractory chamber. What are the mechanics needed to do this. The rlacment cost is $189.00, but the dealere has no information or replacment .

George, the above referenced link is actually one that I started a while ago. I did end up rebuilding the entire stove and found it pretty easy to work on.

Start on page 30 in the right column, pretty straight forward.

If you get stuck I have pictures of the rebuild with a rebuild manual direct from VC.

While you are in there I would recommend you inspect and clean the cat too.
