I have an Osburn 2400. It has a 1/2" insulation blanket in the top of the stove that needs to be replaced every so often. It's $50 a pop.
Any reason not to just buy a roll of hi-temp Cerablanket or Kaowool or Superwool?

http://www.atlantech1.com/productlines/Cerablanket.aspx

The Cerablanket is rated up to 2300-2400 fahrenheit.

I see Superwool 607 is similar product, similar price rated at 2012 fahrenheit. Is that adequate for putting in top of my stove? The insulation blanket goes on top of a layer of firebrick. Seems OK to me, but I'm no expert, so hoping someone with a little more knowledge / expertise can give me the thumbs up or down.

BTW, I found the Osburn thanks to the forums here. I've had it about 4 years, and it is absolutely awesome. One day I'll post a pic of the stove sitting on the giant granite slab hearth my friend made that is about 10" off the floor standing on big granite feet!

I am using Kaowool for my Fisher stove project. I purchased a roll of 1/4" from Ebay (http://stores.ebay.com/HIGH-TEMP-REFRACTORY-STORE)

I put 2 layers behind the fire brick and will be making a stainless steel baffle covered with 2 layers of Koawool.

It looks like the Kaowool has a bit higher temp rating than the products you mentioned.

I would consider using that.
