First saw her perform in the 1950's. If I'm not mistaken, she was the first person to ever be offered a lifetime contract by a record company. She truly was a Queen.
 
Yep. And one of the only ones actually born in Nashville. Did Honky Tonk Angel for $125 union scale at age 33 to feed the kids and get in Hank's face for Wild Side of Life. And the rest as they say is history.

Married for 70 years to the same guy. He died a last year.
 
And to set the record straight, that Hank was Thompson, not Williams.

I always enjoyed Kitty's songs. Was not aware of her long marriage. That speaks volumes by itself. A true lady.
