My friend has an EKO40 with the RK2001U controller (2007/2008).

Yesterday he thought he had burned up a sensor and was able to located a new EKO40 water temo. sensor.

Today he was able to get a brand new temp. sensor for his boiler but when he installed the sensor has now gets an error code of E3 and is not quite sure what is going on.

Can anyone help out with this problem?

If only there were some way of searching for answers to questions like these....

Tap, tap, click, click, here we go...

Well golly, turns out maybe some of these modern microprocessor based controls are not very, very, very reliable after all.

Medman Ryan has a fix he has shared with us, it may well be what you friend's controller needs:

Brian,

When I fried my temp probe I had to replace it then unplug the boiler let it sit for a little bit. The e 3 code is a over heat or fault code.

. [E 3] error means fault and overheating at the same
time. Appearing of [E 1] error on the display without ability to cancel it by
pressing STOP button, in spite of temperature below 190°F, may mean
permanent damage of boiler temperature sensor

Make sure the connections are right and tight.
