Thanks guys. BTW, I'm a "she", not a "he". The owner's manual states that the cap should be no less than 24 inches from anything combustible. I called the manufacturer, Quadrifire, and they confirmed that.

Sorry .... no harm intended.. make sure you find a new chimney sweep as well. I am sure the discussion board could come up with a few in your area.
 
Great idea Hockeypuck! If anyone can recommend chimney sweeps and/or pellet stove servicemen, I'd appreciate it. We are about 25 miles south of Flint, Michigan.
