    Unfortunately there are bad apples in any industry. Back when I was working in the trades I saw serious overselling by some sleezy plumbers and electricians, much more than I cared for.

    The I can not speak highly enough for the chimney guy I used for all three installs. Great guy and it made my process a lot easier.

    Pretty sure he thinks I'm insane, though.

    Anyone who spent their summer at hearth.com heard the story of one inspector / installer that tried to take me for $9500, based on a flat-out lie. I caught him in it, and have good written evidence of the stunt he tried to pull. I haven't yet decided what I should do with that info, though. I wouldn't put some underhanded retaliation beyond this company, should I report them for impropriety.

    I think you should definitely report them to your state consumer protection agency to protect the next person down the line.
