Using a RSF Onyx with the duct system which blows heat to several rooms. Delighted with the unit except there is nowhere for a filter.

Unit runs a duct to a blower motor, which then continues into a 8" hard pipe. Off this hard pipe 6" flex is run to several rooms. The air intake for the system is in the front of the fireplace unit.

Can I build a holder and stick a filter inline in that 8" hard pipe? Before or after the blower motor? There is no where to put a filter on the fireplace unit.

Ideas? Are there other options?

I'm not saying what it would look like, but theoretically, it should be possible. You'll want it on the intake side of the motor.

Maybe, take a piece of 8" hard pipe. Cut in half. Fabricate box for holding filter (whatever the smallest size I can get, say 10x15x1) in the 8" pipe, then reinstall?

Do you have the inline fan (FO-CIF) connected to the decorative grille (FO-F2)? Ideally you would want the filter just behind the square fan intake grille.

the hvac company's around here sell rolls of filter material you can cut to fit. Cutting some then putting where the air enters the system may be an option.
