I know most people here are wood stove burners but I am looking for something more than a hot black box in my family room. I have decided to have a fireplace installed am am seriously leaning towards a five foot Rumford very similar to the one in the picture. Does any one here have any experience with one of these?

Thanks. John

P.S. (I have found a ton of info here ( http://www.rumford.com/ ) but was looking for some feedback here.)

My in-laws have a Rumsford-influenced one, not that big - it seems surprisingly efficient compared to a typical fireplace.

Have you considered a masonry heater?
