Running an unpainted stove for one season?

I stripped the paint off a classic VC Resolute to get the surface rust off. Was planning to rebuild and repaint, but before I got it done, it needs to be rushed into service this year.

Other than some surface rust, am I going to destroy the stove if it is used without being repainted?

Any thoughts at all are welcome.

I guess that settles it! Get that old Resolute out of the barn and back into service. And now I wont be dropping $2600 on a new stove.

Really could have used a rebuild, but my folks won't be heavy users like I would be.
