Rutland cresote remover safe to use in hearthstone clydesdale?

I bought this stuff to use before brushing my chimney liner:

however I realized it might be wise to check to see if this is safe to use in my insert, before throwing it on the hot coals.
Does anyone know if this will cause any damage to my hearthstone clydesdale? I'm concerned about any chemical reaction it might have with the glass.

It won't hurt anything. If you've been burning correctly there's no need for it though.

I was a little concerned because the last time I brushed my chimney, it only removed a very small pile of ash. I figured this season I would give this stuff a try.

So the creosote was stuck and the broom didn't remove it? Or was ash all that was in it?

Good question. There was no evidence of creosote left behind, but I was unable to do a visual inspection of the entire chimney liner.

Ash is about all I ever get out of a hearthstone flue.
