Elderly Holland Twp. couple apparently killed by carbon monoxide from gas generator

An 84 year old man and a 79 year old woman. The generator was in the garage.

This is happening everywhere there are power outages. I don't understand why people don't understand that power equipment can't be run indoors, including a garage. This happened to a city DPW employee a few days ago. You would think he of all people would understand this. Sad...

Terrible, there was an elderly lady here that froze to death, she lost power and didnt get it back for a few days, sadly no one checked in on her. One of the first things I did was check on my elderly neighbor, hes almost 80, has copd and needs oxygen, I wrote down my cell number and told him to call me if he needed anything, he did ok all week. Hes an engineer and had a 30 year old generator that he ran occasionaly to get his house warm, once it got up to 80 degrees he turned it off, he did that all week.
