LLigetfa, Thanks for the reminder to me and all.

A clean chimney is always in the back of my mind. A buddy went up on my roof about 3 weeks ago to check the 1/2" bird screen for creosote build-up and found none. He also said the chimney looked very clean with no creosote present. My wood (apple and ash) is well seasoned and I tend to burn just a little on the hot side to prevent just such problems. I was not surprised at the lack of creosote. This slightly hotter burn uses more wood but I still have very hot embers each morning so the little extra wood seems to offer a slight margin of chimney safety.

Best wishes,

John_M
