I just replaced the glass on my SCAN60. I put all new gasket roping
on around the window. The door gasket is 1/2", and I got some 1/2"
white rope type from my stove dealer. I took the old gaskets down
there, so I think he gave me the correct material...

It fits perfectly in the channel around the inside of the door, but it doesn't
compress well. I can't close the door completely and lock it in.

Is there a trick to compressing a new gasket?

UPDATE: I guess the trick is that the guy at the stove store gave me
the wrong gasket material and told me it was 1/2"... It was actually 5/8";
Fit well in the grooves, but the 1/2" works the way it should now. :)
