Question:

I have a masonry fireplace with an external chimney. We recently added glass doors to the fireplace. I need to improve the seal around the doors and I'm wondering what the best material is to use.

Answer:

Fiberglass Insulation with the facing paper ripped off of it is OK. If the cracks are small..hi-temp silicone caulk (500-700 degrees) is good.
