Feeling the Heat

Am preparing to install 6" insulated liner inside 8" double-wall chimney pipe.

Questions:

--should current chimney be cleaned first?

--does double-wall chimney pipe have any screws or anything inside that will snag insulation?

--can one guy install an insulated liner?

--anything else I need to know, besides "Don't fall off the roof!"?

Thanks--

Whenever you install liner, you should always sweep your chimney to ensure that any creosote will not ignite from the heat of the liner. I do not believe that the insulation needs more that one person to install. As long as there is a smooth liner, you should be fine. Haha, don't fall off the roof!!

Be careful up there cleaning that chimney before you install the liner.

Nuff said.

As BB said, be safe up there with the cleaning BEFORE the install.

The only snag I can think of is when it goes from Class "A" to stove pipe -
that's when you'll get the screws or screwed ;-)

Just watch the ice - golf shoes don't help, especially with soft spikes :)
