I need some advice please.

I just bought a brand new (never used) Husky 555 from a Husky dealer on eBay for $496 + $35 shipping. Will come with the regular 2 yr warranty. Comes with 20" bar/chain.

The Husky dealer says that he is selling the saw on eBay b/c it has been on his shelf for a long time and he doesn't want to pay any more interest on it.

When I called the dealer to finalize the deal he told me that it is NOT an Auto Tune 555, so I could not extend the warranty to 4 yrs by buying Husky fuel. I told him I needed to think about this first and get back to him. I think he is wrong b/c when I got off the phone with the dealer I noticed that his photos show that the saw says Autotune right on the saw. Also, I can't find anywhere that Husky made a non Autotune 555.

So, I have three questions before I make the payment and finalize the deal.

1- Did Husky make a 555 without Autotune?

2- Do you think this is a good price for the 555?

3- Since I would not be getting this from a local dealer, will I still have to go to the dealer to break in the Autotune or is Autotune designed to work fine, right out of the box? If I have to go to a dealer to adjust the Autotune, is this covered by warranty or is there a charge for this?

Thanks

1) I'm fairly certain that the 555 is autotune only. Ask the dealer to show you a pic of carb adjustment screws if he thinks it's non- Autotune.

2) Sounds pretty good to me.

3) The saw will adjust itself during the first several minutes you run it. It will re-adjust itself constantly too, to account for changes in temp, altitude, humidity, air filter cleanliness, etc.

555's are auto tune saws.

In order to get the 4 year, extension on the warranty the fuel must be on the same sales receipt.

that sucks/ The dealer I use has been great with me. I've purchased all sorts of stuff from him over the years. I hope the crap you're putting up with doesn't turn you off of a fine product.

FWIW - when you eventually settle, if you get a Husky, that oil cap is tough to get off. I have had to use the scrench to do it so often that I don't even try to do it by hand anymore.

Also - if it's anything like my 455 Rancher, when you're done with it and ready to put it away, open the oil cap to release the pressure, then screw it back in tight. Otherwise you're likely to find some bar oil has leaked out when you go to use the saw again.
