Hello

The brass bushing in the Avalon Astoria has really dried up after 3 season and needs attention.

So I started looking for a brass bushing when I can across this info about whitfield's brass bushing!

My brass bushing looks exactly like the one in the picture!

Travis Ind calls it an Auger Drive Collar part # 91002021

Info
It has been recommended for many years that brass bushings be replaced by nylatron bushings on the Whitfield pellet stoves. New auger motor's warrantys are voided if the bushing is not upgraded to nylatron version which you can find by clicking here.

Most older models came with a brass bushing installed (which has been prone to failure, and can cause auger motor failure)
If your Whitfield came with a brass bushing, you will need a new end plate as well, found here: click here for auger end plate with new nylatron bushing

Custom plastic bushings for longer life can be ordered here!

I believe they are different diameters and the hole pattern for the plate will be different but I do not see why a nylon bushing wouldn't work if it is the right diameter and depth

Yes, the nylon bushing for the Magnum BabyCountryside would work if it is the right diameter. If the brass is a different thickness than the nylon then even the same diameter may not fit. Could be tricky but I would really like to find an upgrade so the brass bushing would not have to be replaced every 3 years for optimum performance!

moly! see if you can find some dry moly to dress he brass bushing with annualy if not dry graphite would do well also but may need a shot of it about mid season, the issue is friction, reduce it and you can get years out of contact bushings

Why not go to nylon bushing and forget the annual dressings?

cause nylon will wear as well, and yes the dry moly is what i was talking about i dunno why they have a can of bug spray on the page. even with nylon wear would be reduced by as much as 75% IMHO brass would do dang near as well. defeat friction and increase lifespan regardless of the material.saame as using a ball bearing instead of a race or bushing though bearings cost more they reduce wear as well as resistance which is why they are more deasirable

Hello

Finally Got the brass bushing out.

Would the Whitfield nylatron bushing fit into the Travis Avalon Astoria bushing plate?
Looks like it will not fit from what it states here. :-(

Replacing auger motors is the most common maintenance on any pellet stove. If you have a Whitfield pellet stove you must make sure to replace the original brass bushing with a NYLATRON BUSHING which is the factory required upgrade and has been for many years. They found that the brass bushing tends to cause resistance and bind over time and it actually wears out the auger motor. Auger motor warranty’s are voided if the Nylatron bushing is not installed when a new auger motor is put in place.
You can find our aftermarket upgraded auger motors (with more internal metal parts replacing the original plastic parts) and the Nylatron bushings on our web site located here.
