Side Trim Clearance Rockland 550

I would appreciate any help on determining the clearance for the side trim on the jotul 550. The manual states distance to side trim is 21 3/4 inches from centerline for 1 inch max thickness. What about pieces of trim greater than 1 inch. I can't believe anything thicker is considered a side wall. Can you use the same profile they give you for the mantle? I ask because my mantle side trim has some thicker trim about 5inches thick at the bottom which is 31 inches from center line.

Any suggestions

I can't see an inspector giving you grief on the issue. The slope of the mantel clearances would seem a good measure to apply - if you do apply the same gradiant, are you "clear" of the no-combustibles zone?

Anyone else see a problem?

Yeah it exceeds the clearance by 10 inches, its just that it is more than one inch thick. If you apply the mantel profile it passes by a mile.
