I have given this a lot of thought. I was always wanting the perfect tool to extract the coals from the ash. Instead, I bought a Blaze King. Now there is absolutely no reason to worry about coals. Even after a few days there are still coals enough to get a fire going without any issues. I use an ash-hoe, even if half of the coals go down the shute I still have more than enough to get it going!
